You Need The Holy Spirit

Philip Olaomi | July 21, 2022

Friends, you cannot do without the Holy Spirit.

In Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

A believer with the Holy Spirit is abundant and rich in all good things. Genesis 1 :1 recorded that the earth was without form, void and empty but the hope of transformation, the hope for the desired change was the hovering presence of the Holy Spirit.

The person of Jesus was promised to man in Isaiah 7:14 and in Matthew 1:13 … and His name shall be called Emmanuel, which is being interpreted “God with us”.

This was God’s plan to renew the daily visits He made to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3. The presence of Jesus instilled wisdom, salvation, healing and deliverance and some point when Jesus was about leaving, having completed His earthly assignment, He knew He couldn’t leave man without His divine guidance, so He promised the Holy Spirit to man.

John 14:25-26 25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Ephesians 4:30 ……the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

A good understanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit will challenge any believer to pursue Him until you are firm in Him.

The Holy Spirit empowers you to live the life that Jesus lived, He empowers you to do the things that Jesus did and more. He gives you the strength to love the same things that Jesus loved for the same reasons Jesus loved them.

He is a person that knows you, loves you and gives you direction. He counsels you and helps you to make the decisions you need to navigate the difficult seasons in life.

Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

How can you receive the Holy Spirit?

  1. The Holy Spirit is holy, you must be holy in character, in deeds, in words and all that pertains to you.
  2. He is God’s gift to you; you need to receive Him by opening your heart and ask that He comes into your heart sincerely.
  3. Read the bible (1 Corinthians  12:1-31, Galatians 5:16-25) and other good Christian resources about the Holy Spirit to learn more about Him and His operations.
  4. Once you receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, ensure to pray more in tongues (the language of the Holy Spirit).
  5. Relate with other believers who are already operating in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Shalom!
